DPDP Compliance
Practical DPDP Act, 2023 compliance for Indian organisations — data mapping, notice and consent, rights and grievance handling, breach response and Oracle data protection.
India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) changes how every organisation that processes the digital personal data of individuals in India must collect, use, store, share and protect that data. TechnowayIT helps you turn the Act into a practical programme: clear ownership, working processes and evidence you can show a regulator, a customer or an auditor.
What the DPDP Act expects from a Data Fiduciary
- Notice and consent: tell people what data you collect and why, and obtain free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent through a clear affirmative action, with an easy way to withdraw it.
- Purpose limitation and data minimisation: use personal data only for the purpose it was given for, and keep only what you need.
- Accuracy, retention and erasure: keep data accurate and erase it when the purpose is served, unless the law requires retention.
- Reasonable security safeguards: protect personal data against breach. Failure to do so can attract penalties of up to ₹250 crore.
- Breach intimation: report a personal data breach to the Data Protection Board of India and to each affected individual.
- Rights of individuals: access, correction and erasure, grievance redressal and the right to nominate another person.
- Children’s data: verifiable consent of a parent or guardian for anyone under 18, and no tracking or targeted advertising directed at children.
- Significant Data Fiduciaries: additional duties, including a Data Protection Officer based in India, data protection impact assessments and an independent data audit.
How TechnowayIT helps
1. DPDP readiness assessment
A structured gap analysis of your current practices against the Act, with a prioritised remediation roadmap, owners and timelines.
2. Personal data discovery and mapping
We identify where personal data sits across applications, databases, cloud services, files and vendors, and map how it flows, who can access it and how long it is kept.
3. Notice and consent management
Plain-language notices, consent capture for websites, applications and forms, withdrawal mechanisms and consent records that stand up to scrutiny.
4. Data-principal rights and grievance redressal
Request intake, identity verification, response workflows and a grievance officer framework, with tracking so nothing is missed.
5. Security safeguards
Technical and organisational controls proportionate to your risk: access control, encryption, logging and monitoring, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, and secure configuration.
6. Breach response
Incident response plans, tabletop exercises, forensic support and help preparing notifications to the Data Protection Board, affected individuals and, where applicable, CERT-In.
7. Vendor and cross-border governance
Data processor agreements, vendor due diligence and a review of cross-border data transfers.
8. Significant Data Fiduciary support
Data protection impact assessments, DPO framework design and preparation for independent data audits.
